What to expect

Two hours, well spent

No experience needed, nothing to bring, nobody taking it too seriously.

  1. 1

    A warm welcome

Pop the kettle on — sessions start with a cup of tea and a wander round the garden studio.

  2. 2

    A quick demo

Your tutor shows you how to centre the clay and pull up your first pot, nice and slowly.

  3. 3

    Have a go

You get your own wheel and as much guidance as you would like. Wobbly pots are part of the fun.

  4. 4

    Take it home

We fire and glaze your favourite pieces, and they are ready to collect about four weeks later.

What to wear

Comfortable beats stylish

Everything else is on us: clay, tools, aprons, tea and biscuits.

  • Wear clothes you are happy to get clay on — old jeans and a t-shirt are perfect.
  • Aprons are provided, and clay washes out of most things, just in case.
  • Keep fingernails short if you can; it makes throwing much easier.
  • Tie long hair back and leave dangly bracelets at home.
